World cafe' discussions
Day 1: Big ideas
- Transformation: Community, collaboration, cohort, institute
- Awareness through stories that inspire teachers and students: publications, scholarships, cross pollination
- Time: To reflect, to learn....a shift in priorities
- Joyful teachers and students
- Creative, confident, social, thriving children
- "La Crosse is a gem"
What principles do you recommend we hold each other to, for the good of this project and the people it will serve?
- Be inspired by each other
- Collaborate
- Strive for quality
- Accept and respect others' ideas
- Trust the process; trust each other
- Be open to change
- Disrupt & take risks
- Capitalize on strengths
- Do with, not to
After looking at some successful project examples, what insights and inspirations do you have?
- Time and money to support team teaching for training and fellowship
- Larger scale of our smaller successes - perhaps a cottage industry
- Teacher fellowship program - give graduate credit and free arts integration courses during the summer
- Say thank you to teachers by granting authentic arts experiences to the teacher and students (e.g., symphony)
- k12 Summer school classes could all be arts integrated classes
- Time for teachers to connect: sabbaticals, training
- "Value added" student teachers
- A demand for Viterbo teachers
- Guarantee that students have arts integrated experiences
What does this mean for you? What are you excited about? What can you offer? What do you need?
